Whether untreated, lacquered, oiled, made of oak, beech, ash, walnut, maple or even bamboo - the diverse parquet flooring provides a homely ambience in every room.

How is two-layer parquet constructed?

The two layers are firmly connected to each other. Under the solid wood top layer is the backing layer. Since the support material is not visible, their appearance is irrelevant. The substructure is selected based on its properties. The particular support material is responsible for the durability and stability of the parquet. Multilayer plywood or cross-laminated softwood or hardwood is used as a support layer. In this way, you can also choose a rather soft wood for the top layer and still get enough durability from the sturdy carrier wood.

The second layer is also responsible for restricting the movement of the solid wood. The natural material wood works continuously. Depending on the humidity, it expands or contracts. The bottom layer curbs this movement and thus reduces the warping of the parquet.

Two-layer parquet: always a good idea

A great feature of the two-layer parquet is the stability achieved by the structure. The two layers restrict the wood from working. Thus, your floor retains its shape and you benefit from a low joint formation. Since a two-layer parquet is always installed glued to the substrate, the third layer is actually the screed.

Daily use of the floor naturally leaves traces. You have the option to renovate the flooring several times. Depending on the use, care as well as room climate, you can enjoy your high-quality parquet floor for generations. Two-layer parquet is ideally suited for laying on a hot water underfloor heating. Due to the low installation height, the heat is optimally conducted through the parquet. When choosing, look for indications as to whether the desired flooring is suitable for underfloor heating.

How is two-layer parquet laid?

Two-layer parquet is laid fully glued - floating installation is not possible. This type of installation is more demanding than the click system, but definitely can be implemented even by talented amateur DIYers. Before you start laying, check that the substrate is dry, crack-free, level, and clean. Take the parquet elements out of the packaging only shortly before laying. If you have a uniform color image in mind, then you can open several packages. So you can sort the elements by structure and color before laying. After installation, avoid walking on the parquet floor for about 12 hours, because the glue hardens from its pasty consistency and there is a risk of tearing under load. Therefore, please install the last strip of parquet only the next day or place the beginning of the parquet installation so that they can leave the room through the door without having to continue walking on the freshly laid parquet.
